Associate Director, Clinical Studies
Waldy San Sebastian, PhD
Dr. San Sebastian obtained her PhD at the University of Navarra, Spain, studying the therapeutic effect of autologous striatal implants of carotid body cells in parkinsonian nonhuman primates. With this prior scientific experience, she joined the Bankiewicz Lab at UCSF as a Postdoctoral Scientist in 2010. Her postdoctoral work focused on the preclinical development of adeno-associated virus-based gene therapies for neurological diseases, such as Parkinson’s disease and pediatric neurotransmitter deficiency. Over her tenure in the Bankiewicz Lab, these two programs reached clinical development and Dr. San Sebastian developed significant expertise with the regulatory affairs and documentations required for IND and BLA submissions, leading these efforts and bringing this experience to BrainNeuBio. Dr. San Sebastian has over 25 peer-reviewed publications.
